Officer Carol Ryan

Officer Ryan is a 15-year veteran of the San Antonio Police Department graduating out of Class 96B. She has been assigned to the recruiting detail the past three years after working 12 years on patrol serving the central and south service areas on both “dog watch” and daylight shifts as well as the South Saffe Unit.

She holds the following TCLEOSE Certifications: Masters Peace Officers Certification, Crisis Intervention and Standard Field Sobriety Testing. She is Crossfit Running and Endurance Certified and is one of the physical training coaches for the pre-cadet workout program.

Prior to joining the San Antonio Police Department she was employed with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for four years. Officer Castaneda served eight years in the Army Reserves.

She is a native of San Antonio, graduating from Ursuline Academy High School in San Antonio where she was a four-year varsity athlete in basketball and track.

She has an associate degree in criminal justice from San Antonio College. Upon her employment with the San Antonio Police Department, Officer Castaneda was a single parent of two daughters, ages 2 and 9 at the time she entered the San Antonio Police Academy.
