Insurance
Insurance coverage is an important part of your benefits package. Insufficient coverage or poorly designed plans can significantly reduce your total benefits package. You’ll be happy to know that the City of San Antonio provides excellent insurance coverage for Medical, Dental/Vision and Life.
Medical insurance is provided for the officer and his family at no cost to the officer and pays at the following rates:

| Individual out of pocket max | $600 | $1,200 |

Prescription benefits are provided for the officer and his family at no cost to the officer. The in network out of pocket maximum for an individual is $150 and the family out of pocket maximum is $300.
Dental and vision benefits are provided to police officers and their families at no cost to the officer. Preventive care is included and has no deductible associated. Benefits are paid at the following rates:

All officers are covered with a life insurance policy equivalent to one year’s salary at no cost to the officer.
